Dvino E. Thomas, 31, was apprehended by members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team and U.S. Marshals Service outside his Bolingbrook home May 25.
The arrest stems from a failure to appear/probation violation arrest warrant issued Feb. 21 for Thomas.
In August 2016, Thomas plead guilty to one count of aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm and
was sentenced to 30 months of probation, 77 days in Lake County jail and 100 hours of public service for his role in a December 2015 attack in incorporated Spring Grove. He was originally charged with aggravated kidnapping and aggravated battery.
Following the issuance of the Lake County warrant, members of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Team along with members of the USMS-GLRFTF began apprehension efforts. Thomas would frequently switch vehicles and stay overnight at different locations, in an apparent effort to avoid apprehension.
On May 24, members of the sheriff’s warrants team located Thomas driving a vehicle in the area of South Ashland Avenue and West 43rd Street, Chicago. Warrants deputies attempted to stop him, however Thomas fled in the vehicle and avoided apprehension.
On May 25, warrants deputies developed information indicating Thomas was at his Bolingbrook address. Members of the sheriff’s warrants team along with the USMS-GLRFTF located and successfully apprehended Thomas outside of his residence.
Thomas remains held at the Lake County Jail on the failure to appear warrant.
Sheriff Mark Curran said, “Often, locating wanted individuals proves to be difficult, as many with warrants attempt to hide and avoid apprehension. This is another example of our warrants deputies working diligently to apprehend a wanted fugitive.”
Sheriff Curran reminds the public the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
