Niles, Morton Grove and Park Ridge Police Blotter, Oct. 31-Nov. 16

The following items were taken from the Niles, Morton Grove and Park Ridge Police department reports. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Battery

  • Police responded Nov. 4 to a disturbance in restaurant in the 7900 block of Milwaukee Avenue .The men reportedly left the restaurant before officers arrived.
  • An employee of a company in the 6300 block of Gross Point Road told police that another female worker “attacked” her for no reason on Nov. 9. A supervisor told police the other employee had been fired prior to police being contacted.

Burglary to Vehicle

  • A purse was stolen from a car parked in a lot in the 6800 block of Milwaukee Avenue between 10:30 p.m., Nov. 5 and 12:17 a.m. the next morning, police said.
  • A woman told police that between $50 and $100 was stolen from her car between Nov. 4 and Nov. 5 while it was parked in the 6500 block of Ebinger Drive.

Dispute

  • Officers were called to an apartment in the 8600 block of Milwaukee Avenue Nov. 9 after a couple got into a verbal disput, police said. There were no signs of a physical altercation according to police.

DUI

  • Darek Rafalko, 35, of Niles, was charged with driving under the influence on Nov. 6 after he was reportedly involved in a crash at Cumberland Avenue and Clara Drive.
  • Deweryn Szczotarski, 33, of Schiller Park, was charged with driving under the influence and driving on a revoked license on Nov. 9. Police said Szczotarski’s car nearly struck a squad car in the 8600 block of Milwaukee Avenue.

Speeding

  • Tabitha Harrison, 22, of Chicago, was charged with speeding on Nov. 5.

Theft

  • Henry Younan, 36, of Niles, was charged with retail theft on Nov. 8 after he allegedly took clothes from a store in the 5600 block of Touhy Avenue and tried to return them, police said.
  • David Jimenez, 26, of Chicago, was charged with retail theft on Nov. 9 after police said he stole $245.89 worth of construction material from a store in the 8600 block of Dempster Street.
  • A man was reportedly seen stealing a shopping cart filled with alcohol, valued at $450, from a store in the 8700 block of Dempster Street on Nov. 8.
  • Five LED bathroom fixtures, valued at $595, were reported stolen from a store in the 8600 block of Dempster Street on Nov. 7, police said.
  • A weed trimmer valued at $400 was reported stolen on the morning of Nov. 10 from the 6900 block of Dobson Street.
  • A man reportedly stole $62 worth of gasoline from a gas station in the 5900 block of West Touhy Avenue on Nov. 10.

 

Morton Grove

Disorderly Conduct

  • Onell Shmoel, 20, of Niles was involved in a traffic altercation Nov. 16 on the 6400 Block of Dempster. Victim stated suspect Shmoel a gun at him. Shmoel stated he pointed a flashlight at the victim.

Misdemeanor Speeding

  • Aaron Hofstra, 20, of Chicago arrested Nov. 16 for speeding 68 mph in a 30 mph zone in the 6800 Block of Dempster Ave.

Cannabis 30 grams or less

  • Officer located cannabis Nov. 16 in the vehicle driven by Marcus Satterfield, 19, of Lombard after he was stopped for speeding at near Golf Road and Ozanam Avenue.
  • Henry Wingard, 37, of Chicago,was stopped for an equipment violation Nov. 17 near Dempster and School streets. Officer located cannabis in the vehicle. Suspect was issued a Morton Grove local citation.

DUI and Misdemeanor Speeding

  • Charles Carra, 34, of Evanston was stopped for speeding 65 mph in a 30 mph near Dempster and School streets. He failed field sobriety and was arrested for misdemeanor speeding and DUI.

 

DUI

  • Andrew Fase, 54, of Des Plaines was stopped for moving violations Nov. 17 near Central Ave. and Kirk St. He failed field sobriety and was arrested for DUI. Suspect provided a breath sample of .142.
  • Oliver Castanos, 30, of Chicago was stopped Nov. 20 for multiple traffic violations near Dempster St. and Waukegan Ave. . Castanos failed field sobriety and was arrested for DUI, but refused to provide a breath or urine sample.
  • Tumar Gongorijav, 48, of Glenview was asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle partially blocking the driveway at 7900 block of Golf Ave Nov. 22. Gongorijav failed field sobriety and was arrested for DUI. Suspect refused to provide a breath sample.

Warrant

  • Janet Rodrigues, 33, of Morton Grove was found to have an outstanding warrant out of DuPage County Nov. 19.

DWLS

  • Yolanda Medina Garduno, 22, of Chicago, was involved in a motor vehicle accident Nov. 21 near Dempster St. and Central Ave. and arrested for driving without a valid license.

Armed Robbery

  • Victim stated three Hispanic males all in their 20’s entered the store Nov. 10 on the 6000 block of Dempster St.. One offender pointed a small, black, semi-automatic pistol at the victim. The offenders stole money and multiple bottles of alcohol before fleeing the store on foot.
  • Spring Kelley-Baker, 39, of Chicago was stopped Nov. 16 for expired registration and arrested for driving while license suspended near Dempster St. and Waukegan Ave.
  • Ioan Pop, 32, of Chicago was stopped Nov. 19 for equipment violation on 9000 block of Waukegan Ave. and arrested for driving with a suspended license.

Burglary

  • Complainant stated someone forced open the rear door of a house on the 9100 block of Marmora and stole jewelry and miscellaneous items Nov. 16.
  • Complainant stated on Nov. 18 a Hispanic male came to the door stating he was doing work on the neighbor’s fence on the 7700 block of Arcadia. The male asked the complainant to show him the property line. During the time an unknown offender entered the house and stole jewelry.
  • Complainant stated he found his neighbor’s door open on the 9200 block of Mason on Nov. 20. Responding units discovered the door forced, unknown what was taken.

 

Park Ridge

Bond Violation

  • Travis Broderick, 21, of Bolingbrook, was taken into custody Nov. 12 for a bond violation, police said. He is being held at Cook County Jail without bond, according to the Cook County Sheriff’s Department.

DUI

  • Marta Witkiewicz, 31, of Park Ridge, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured vehicle on the morning of Nov. 10. She was taken into custody at Touhy and Cumberland avenues and given a Dec. 3 court date.
  • Joseph Greschner, 50, of Buffalo Grove, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane usage on the night of Nov. 14. He was taken into custody on the 200 block of North Northwest Highway and given a Dec. 29 court date.
  • Rigoberto Campuzano, 54, of Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol on Nov. 18. He was taken into custody at Talcott Road and Touhy Avenue at 1:30 a.m. and given a Dec. 16 court date.
  • Patrick Placek, 21, of Park Ridge, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident, driving without a license present, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving an uninsured vehicle on Nov. 19. According to police, Placek’s car struck a dumpster on the 500 block of North Prospect Avenue around 3 a.m. He then allegedly exited the car, leaving his passenger in the front seat. Police were reportedly able to catch up to Placek near the corner of Prospect Avenue and Sibley Street, where he was detained. He was given a Dec. 16 court date.

Leaving the Scene

  • Jose O. Romero, 24, of Glenview, was with leaving the scene of an accident, illegal transportation of alcohol, driving with a suspended license, driving an uninsured vehicle and improper lane use on Oct. 31. According to police, Romero rear-ended a car on eastbound Dempster Street on the night of Oct. 30 and then ran away, leaving his car behind, after offering the other driver money to not call police. Romero turned himself in the next day, police said.

Possession

  • A 14-year-old Park Ridge boy was charged with illegal possession of alcohol by a minor on Oct. 31. Police said the teen was found with seven cans of beer in his backpack near Field School, Wisner and Cuttriss streets.

Speeding

  • Hammad Asghar, 23, of Niles, was charged with speeding more than 35 mph above the posted limit on Nov. 6. Police said Asghar’s car was caught on radar traveling about 100 mph on westbound Oakton Street at Meacham Avenue at 1:30 p.m. Police reportedly caught up the car while it was stopped in traffic near Greenwood Avenue.

Theft

  • Jessica Klish, 41, of Palatine, was charged with theft on Nov. 16. Police said Klish was accused of stealing three rings, valued at approximately $5,500, from a home on the 1100 block of Good Avenue while she was working as a housekeeper there. The theft was reported on Oct. 22.
  • Leah Claire Music, 45, of Hollywood, Fla., was charged with identity theft, forgery and attempting to flee or elude a police officer on Nov. 19 after police said she attempted to cash a forged check at PNC Bank, 607 W. Devon Ave. According to police, the check had been reported stolen during a car burglary in Schaumburg. Police took Music into custody near Harlem and Bryn Mawr avenues in Chicago and she was given a Nov. 29 court date.

Burglary

  • Tools were reportedly stolen between Oct. 20 and Nov. 1 from a garage on the 300 block of South Chester Avenue.
  • A weed cutter, power washer and bicycle repair stand were stolen between Nov. 6 and Nov. 8 from an unlocked garage on the 900 block of Crescent Avenue.
  • Golf clubs were stolen from a detached garage on the 300 block of Cumberland Avenue between Nov. 6 and Nov. 13, police said.

Burglary to Vehicle

  • A purse was stolen from a car on the afternoon of Nov. 12 while it was parked on the 800 block of Talcott Road, police said. A window was reportedly shattered to gain entry.
  • Electrical tools were reported stolen Nov. 13 from an unlocked truck parked on the 1900 block of Washington Street.
  • A cellphone was taken from an unlocked car parked between Nov. 11 and Nov. 14 on the 1300 block of Brophy Avenue, police said.

Property Damage

  • A garage door was damaged between Oct. 14 and Oct. 28 on the 1000 block of West Crescent Avenue.
  • A golf course vehicle was used to drive through the grounds of the Park Ridge Country Club, 636 N. Prospect Ave., overnight between Oct. 28 and Oct. 29, police said.
  • A water fountain and chain link fence were discovered damaged Nov. 1 at Northeast Park on the 800 block of North Washington Avenue.

Theft

  • Four hubcap logos were stolen Oct. 28 from a car parked on the 600 block of Busse Highway, police said.
  • A 2008 Ford Escape was stolen between 6 p.m. Nov. 2 and 2 a.m. Nov. 3 from the 1400 block of Peterson Avenue.
  • Four steel animal traps were reported stolen Nov. 7 from the 2400 block of Manor Lane. The theft occurred between Sept. 9 and Oct. 17, police said.

Burglary to Vehicle

  • Loose change and a phone charger were stolen Nov. 6 from two unlocked cars parked on the 1600 block of South Prospect Avenue.
  • A tire thumper was reportedly stolen between Nov. 1 and Nov. 8 from an unlocked car parked on the 1700 block of South Fairview Avenue.
  • A car parked on the 1500 block of Talcott Road was entered overnight between Nov. 7 and Nov. 8, but nothing was stolen, police said.
  • A purse and change were stolen overnight between Nov. 8 and Nov. 9 from an unlocked car parked on the 1400 block of Park Ridge Boulevard, police said. The purse was later found in a neighbor’s garbage can, but a wallet containing credit cards, gift cards and identification was missing, according to police
  • A woman reported that her wallet was stolen Nov. 12 while she was attending a farmers market at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 205 N. Prospect Ave.
  • A locked bicycle was stolen between Nov. 10 and Nov. 15 from a rack near the Uptown train station, 100 S. Summit Ave., police said.
  • A purse was stolen Nov. 15 after it was reportedly left unattended at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, 1775 W. Dempster St.
